To encourage the appreciation of the arts and culture and empower creativity in the community, the Office of Culture and Arts (OCA) officially opened the 2017 Lasallian Arts Month yesterday, February 1, at Plaza Villarosa.

Lasallian Arts Month, with this year’s theme as “Art Unmasked: The Truth in Art,” is a month-long annual celebration of Lasallians and their artistic skills. Various activities aim to encourage student-artists to reflect on current issues and translate them to any kind of artwork; be it through dance, music, or theater.

“As you may have noticed, many of the courses in Benilde are related to the arts, so I think it’s just…it’s right na we celebrate the National Arts Month in our campus as well,” said Reya Laplana, OCA marketing manager of cultural promotion.

Different performances and groups under OCA such as Coro San Benildo, Saint Romancon Dance Company, and Dulaang Filipino will be some of the frontrunners of this year’s celebration.
