Blazer Noelyn Campos ranked first runner up in the 13th ASEAN Taekwondo Championship in Malaysia.
After bagging the championship for Women’s Taekwondo in NCAA Season 92, Lady Jin Noelyn Campos represented the Philippines in the 13th ASEAN Taekwondo Championship 2017, which was held at Kangar, Perlis, Malaysia last March 21 to 25.
According to Campos, who won a silver medal after competing in the featherweight division, the Philippines finished the competition as first runner up.
“Pangarap ko talaga maglaro international. Pangarap kong i-represent yung Philippines. Saka gusto ko maramdaman yung nasa podium ako, at tumutugtog yung national anthem natin.” Campos said in an interview with The Benildean.
Campos finished her first fight against Malaysia with three rounds [5-6, 10-13, 20-13] and her finals against Vietnam with the score of 5-15.
After the hard-kicking action, Campos stated, “yung fight ko against Vietnam, veteran na yun eh. Nag SEA games na kaya I fell short.”
“Pagbalik ko ng Pinas, i-polish pa ‘yung strengths ko at i-improve ‘yung weakness ko para mas maging matibay ako next time. Mag te-training na rin ako nang maigi para hopefully magka-chance ulit na maglaro for Philippines,” she added.
Campos is joined by fellow students from other universities and colleges such as De La Salle University, University of the East, San Beda College, National University and University of Santo Tomas.
The Philippines collected 4 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals in this year’s competition.
Vietnam bagged the overall championship while Malaysia placed third.
