Coro San Benildo (Coro) concluded its send-off concert and fundraising dinner, Musique et Gastronomie, last May 13 at Vatel Restaurant of Hotel Benilde in preparation for the group’s trip to France for an international competition by month’s end.
De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde’s (DLS-CSB) resident choir is set to compete at the 46th Florilège Vocal de Tours International Choral Competition in Tours, France on May 26-28 after bagging first place in last year’s Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.

As a gesture of appreciation for all the support they received, the group organized three scheduled send-off concerts from May 12-14. Different performances displayed their talents while attendees were served Italian cuisine prepared by the partner venue Hotel Benilde’s Vatel Restaurant.
Coro serenaded the guests with songs from their repertoire of classical and pop tunes. They also performed a few French songs as a preview of what they will bring on stage during the 46th Florilège Vocal de Tours.
The concert also served as a fundraising event to shoulder the airfare expense of the participants. Coro’s Company Manager Cheska Flores said she is beyond happy with the turnout of the event and the support they received.
“First and foremost, we would like to thank those people who supported us in this fundraising concert and OCA (Office of Culture and Arts) headed by Sir Gil [Castillo] for the relentless support for Coro San Benildo. And of course, our fellow student artists who have always been there for us ever since we started planning this particular endeavor,” Flores said in an interview with The Benildean.
Coro has won several awards in competitions local and abroad, such as the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, Wales, United Kingdom in 2016 and the 1st Xinghai Choir Competition, Guangzhou, China in 2012 to name a few.
