Benilde student artists bag awards in HK dance competition

Seven Benilde student artists bagged a total of seven different awards in the Hong Kong Challenge Cup Dance Competition (HKCCDC) 2017 last July 21 held at the Y-Theatre, Youth Square, Chai Wan, Hong Kong.

The annual international dance competition brings together professional and amateur dancers to showcase their choreography. This year, the Benildean participants bagged five gold medals, one silver medal, and the award for the Best Dance Performance.

The winning Benildean performers for this year’s HKCCDC 2017 are as follows:

  • Silver Medalist
    • Martha Lelis from Saint Benilde Romançon Dance Company (SBRDC) (trainer and choreographer: Tonjie Mangao, Bachelor of Performing Arts in Dance (BPAD))
  • Gold Medalists
    • Michael Patrick Dela Torre, BPAD, (trainer and choreographer: Cir Garing)
    • Nicole Gutierrez and Ralph Nuguid (BPAD)
    • Jaydee Jasa and Mark Juelar from SBRDC (choreographer: Christine Crame)

Furthermore, SBRDC performers Jasa, Julear, Lois Laylo, and Ghian Red Arboleda received the Overall Best Dance Performance in the Ensemble category for “Little Swans” choreographed by Christine Crame.

The Hong Kong Challenge Cup Dance Competition aims to promote diversity in dance culture and exchange experiences by giving dancers the opportunity to unite in harmony regardless of nationality.
