With two losses under their belt, the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Blazers failed to bounce back after surrendering to the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Blue Eagles in three sets earlier today, Sept. 13, in the 2017 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) at the Fil Oil Arena, San Juan.
The Taft-based squad opened the game with errors, which the Blue Eagles capitalized to take the first set, 25-13. In the second set, Team Captain Isaah Arda and Francis Basilan, who scored 11 and seven points respectively, steadied their spikes and blocks to bring the set to an almost win, but still ADMU overpowered and won, 25-22.
Led by the 17 points of Ateneo’s Marck Espejo, the Katipunan team maintained their momentum and finished the third set, 25-22, winning the game and retaining the top seed in the PVL.
Today’s defeat puts Benilde in eighth position, the last of all the competing teams.
Tune in and watch the Blazers’ next match versus the Far Eastern University on September 18, Monday, at the Fil Oil Arena, San Juan.
