DigiBayanihan is an innovative nationwide empowerment movement of ASSIST, an international non-stock, non-profit organization that promotes sustainable practices to address social problems, and aims to provide access to and improve digital literacy for Filipinos.
The project also introduced a new set of initiatives as a tool for digital empowerment: the “Career Engine” that aims to train students’ soft skills, the “Test Hero” that helps students prepare for critical examinations, and the “DQ World for Digital Citizenship” that helps children to navigate the digital life in a smart way.
In an interview with The Benildean, Benilde HiFi Innovation Development and Mentoring Coordinator Rex Lor, on behalf of the entire organization, wished to express their excitement and pride in partnering with the collective of innovative teams from different groups represented during the grand relaunch.
“We envision an open space that bridges the gap between academic research, industry competence, and societal needs leveraging an empathetic and inclusive approach to innovation. Since we are working with the academe, it is but practical to work with you to push for youth-driven initiatives on digital enablement, the creation of learning modules and in co-incubating projects,” Lor said.
This year’s relaunch was supported by various organizations such as Google Philippines, the Office of the Vice President of the Philippines, the Department of Information and Communications Technology , and the National Youth Commission, among others.
In addition, Sreenivas Narayanan, ASSIST Asia Managing Director and a member of the Benilde HiFi Board of Advisers, helped form the collaboration between the two organizations to help achieve a common goal.
Benilde HiFi is a space of innovation for social good in the academe with their major contributions being ideation workshops needed for coming up with relevant solutions for DigiBayanihan, and assisting in creating content and learning modules for digital citizenship.
