As the registration for the 2022 National and Local Elections ends on Sept. 30, newly installed Benilde Chancellor Benhur Ong reminded qualified members of the Benildean community to vote, allowing associates, both teaching and non-teaching, and students to take a day off to register.

“More than ever, the May 2022 National and Local Elections is one of great importance. For those of us who are qualified, we encourage you to exercise your right and perform your civic duty to vote,” the announcement via Benilde email read.

The Benildean community is called to visit the nearest COMELEC Office to process registration, transfer, reactivation, or verification of their respective voter’s registrations to ensure their eligibility to vote on election day.

The office has laid out the following options for eligible voters to take a day off, from Sept. 13 to 30, on their registration day:

  • Non-teaching associates may file an official business (OB) request for one day.
  • Teaching associates should properly coordinate with their students any changes in synchronous or asynchronous delivery that may be affected. Teaching associates should also provide alternatives for concerned students.
  • Students must inform their faculty of any graded activities that may be affected and request for reasonable accommodation.

Chancellor Ong emphasized that the community should “register and vote, and take part in deciding the future of the Philippines.”

COMELEC has made it clear they will not be extending the registration period beyond Sept. 30.
