Over a thousand Benildeans gathered at the Design and Arts Campus (DAC) Cafeteria in celebration of comics, illustrations, and cosplay for DrawINK’s three-day event DrawINK Con 2023.

DrawINK, the College’s official comic book, illustration, and enthusiast student organization, set up camp at the DAC cafeteria with DrawINK Con 2023 on May 17 to 19 as different events were held to celebrate the various artists of the Benildean community.

‘Boothing’ up the Artist Alley

In true illustrator and komikero fashion, DrawINK Con hosted different artist alleys to sell merchandise ranging from comics, original illustrations, to craft items. The event featured 18 artist groups and individual artists, and four guest tables from Benilde alumni on the website for Filipino komiks, Penlab.

While alleys were selling merchandise, a seminar, Drawink Spotlight, was ongoing with invited artists such as Ian St. Maria, Rob Cham, James Atilo, Milo Galang, and Ian Velasquez to the Taft Campus.

Sewing a new era of cosplay

With more and more Benildeans eyeing interest in the art of cosplay, DrawINK called for Benildean cosplayers to enter the stage and perform as their favorite characters. With judges Cholo, Ionica Abrahan Lim, Liabear, Seoliverse, and Skwid, cosplayers were recognized for their winning costuming and performances on the stage.

After a successful event, the convention finally ended after some celebrations, awarding different DrawINK members for their hard work.
