For its excellence in campus journalism, the Benildean Press Corps (BPC) received recognition for its magazine-journal “The Benildean: Reacted” as it proved victorious in winning the Best Student Organ for the college category in the 45th Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA).
The winners of the different categories were pre-announced by the esteemed award-giving body via their official Facebook page on Oct. 27. This recognition is the third award the organization has received from CMMA; the first came in 2018, when BPC won the Best Literary Publication for Shades of Gray: Convalescence, while the second one was a special citation for “The Benildean: Confined” in 43rd CMMA in 2021.
BPC’s sister organization, Ad Astra, was also a finalist in the same category for their annual Frosh magazine “EMBARK VOL. 8.” BPC bested four other finalists, including "The Varsitarian" from the University of Santo Tomas, "Phoenix Tabloid" from Lyceum of the Philippines-Batangas, "The DWCC Gazette" from Divine Word College of Calapan, and "Orange" from First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH Colleges), to win the prestigious award.
The CMMA was established in 1978 by the late Archdiocese of Manila, Archbishop Jaime L. Cardinal Sin, in order to stress the importance of mass media in instilling a sense of responsibility in communicators.
Winners will be given full recognition on Nov. 23 at the 45th CMMA Awards Presentation which will be held at the Citystate Tower Hotel in Ermita, Manila.
