The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Table tennis teams ended their NCAA Season 99 campaign on a high note as the men’s team successfully reclaimed the title and the women’s team grabbed the third-place finish, on Feb. 1, at the Emilio Aguinaldo College Gymnasium in Ermita, Manila.

The Benilde Blazing Paddlers went against the San Beda University (SBU) Red Paddlers for the NCAA Season 99 Table Tennis Finals. Gelo Deocareza took the first steps behind the table for the first singles match. Momentum was not in favor of Deocareza as the Red Paddlers took the match, 1-3. Henze Lucero made sure to bounce back as he snatched a win in the second singles match, 3-1. Joshua Lim and Neo Laudato also took their usual game as they easily routed the Red Paddlers in the doubles match. Lucero made the final moments of the game as he bannered the team in the final singles match, finishing up in four sets, 3-1.

The Benilde Blazing Paddlers claimed their eighth NCAA championship as they defeated the Red Paddlers with a 3-1 match score. This is the Blazing Paddlers’s sixth championship in the last seven seasons.

On the other hand, the Lady Blazing Paddlers went into a very close match against the Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Table Tennis Team. Alex Reyes took on the first singles match where she dominated with a 3-0 win. Danielle Marcelo bannered the team for the second singles match, ending with a five-set thriller in favor of EAC, 2-3. Ricci Villa and Jules Veluz were the chosen duo to battle it all out in the doubles match, however EAC showed dominance in the match and gave the Lady Blazing Paddlers a 0-3 loss. The ladies in green and white forced a five-matched series with EAC, eventually winning the game against the Generals, 3-2.

The Benilde Lady Blazing Paddlers’ win gave them the 2nd runner-up recognition.
