The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Blazers outgunned the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Pirates, 103-78, maintaining their position as the top seed of #NCAA100, today, Sept. 27, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Roger Ondoa unleashed the initial offense, opening the game in favor of the Taft squad. The Pirates, led by Mclaude Guadaña, launched an early counteroffensive, outmaneuvering the Blazers, 2-4, their only lead for the entire game. However, the men in green and white led by Tony Ynot, Allen Liwag, and John Morales quickly penetrated the opposing defense, claiming the first quarter for Benilde, 32-22.

Simon Peñafiel and Gyle Montaño manned the Muralla crew’s cannons, but the Taft squad’s Anton Eusebio raided the rim and plundered the paint. The commanding firepower of the Blazers weighed down the Pirates as the latter struggled to close the gap, 58-40, at halftime.

In the third quarter, John Barba attempted to keep the colors of their flag afloat, but the Pirates were in the blast zone of Liwag as he dominated both ends of the hardcourt. The men in green and white left the men in red and silver with a comfortable lead, 80-59.

The Blazers ran past the Pirates as they took the spoils of their victory. The domination of the Blazers was undeniable as they sailed past the 100-point mark and became the first team to do so in NCAA Season 100, 103-78.

Liwag was crowned as the player of the game after unleashing 22 points and 12 rebounds.

The Blazers will face the San Sebastian College-Recolletos (SSC-R) Stags on Oct. 1 at the same venue with a live telecast on the Heart of Asia and the NCAA Philippines Facebook and Youtube pages.
