#VLeague 2025: Blazers succumb to Letran in tough encounter

The #BenildeBlazers lost their footing in a four-set match against the Colegio de San Juan de Letran (CSJL) Knights.

The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Blazers knelt to the Colegio de San Juan de Letran (CSJL) Knights, 1-3, at the V-League 2025 Collegiate Challenge Conference today, Sept. 3, at the Paco Arena in Manila City.

The Blazers were trailing behind at the first half of the set as Bembem Bautista sent volleys over Taft's defenses. However, Rocky Motol slowly chipped away at the Intramuros team’s lead, delivering sharp kills and capitalizing on Letran’s errors. Benilde caught their rhythm and stayed ahead in the first set, 25-23.

The second and third set was a different story, as the men in green and white struggled to regain their momentum despite the valiant efforts of Mike Balbacal and Chris Villanueva. Donning blue and red, NCAA Men's Volleyball Season 100’s best setter John Wayne Araño paired with Bautista proved to be fatal to the Blazers, 15-25 and 19-25 respectively.

The fourth set saw a four-point advantage for the Knights until Motol attempted another upset and tied at 16-16 apiece. The set continued on with a nail-biting pace as Taft and Intramuros exchanged points. However, Benilde lost control of the ball, conceding the match to Letran, 1-3.

The Benilde Blazers will face the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws next on Sept. 7 at the same venue with a live telecast on V-League’s official website, Facebook, and YouTube pages.

DLS-CSB vs CSJL: 25-23, 15-25, 19-25, 23-25
