The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Blazing Netters and Lady Netters defeated their respective opponents in the NCAA Season 101 Lawn Tennis Tournament today, Feb. 13, at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in Malate, Manila.
Bearing the shield of green and white, Czarina Miraflor struck through the opening rally with a clean sweep, against the Lady Generals, 2-0. Keeping their feet on the pedal, Princess Tana and Keth Mamaba charged the doubles round with clean-cut precision against the opposing duo of Paco, to sweep another set, 2-0.
Meanwhile, Joy Oligo capped the win of the Taft squad as she mirrored the team's dominance, overpowering the challengers from Paco and cruising to another clean sweep delivery, 2-0. The ladies from Taft gained another clean sweep to remain unbeaten on the lawn.
On the men’s side, the Benilde Netters were equally dominant. In MVP fashion, Marco Macalintal set the tone against Mapúa University’s Teddy Del Rosario with a decisive 2-0 victory. In a tighter contest, the tandem of Andrew Garcia Jr. and Pete Rodriguez held on in back-to-back 6-4 sets to keep control, 2-0.
Fern Po delivered the final statement, outplaying Lawrenz Quitara to put away the Netters’ straight sweeps, 2-0. With conviction, both teams remained flawless in their NCAA Season 101 campaign.
As they look to keep the crown in Taft, the Lady Netters are set to face the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA (UPSHD) Altas on Feb. 16, while the Blazing Netters take on San Beda University (SBU) Red Netters on Feb. 18 at the same venue.
