The Student Publications Unit (SPU) brought home three winning entries from the 2026 Gold Quill Awards, earning Benilde its first-ever Gold Quill Awards in one of the world's most prestigious business communication competitions.
Representing SPU at the awarding ceremony were SPU Head Ms. Dayanara Cudal accompanied by BPC’s Editor in Chief and ID123 Diplomacy and International Affairs student Ryzza Ann Gadiano, and Ad Astra Photo Staffer and ID124 Multimedia Arts (ABMMA) student Marshel Escalera.
The organization received two Award of Merit recognitions under Category 28: Writing for articles published in The Benildean: Impulse, the College's official magazine-journal for Academic Year 2023-2024. Ghost(ing) Hunt: In Search of an Emotionally Distant Generation by Caly Bautista and The Politics of Nepotism: How "Nepo Babies" Rule the Philippines by Maxine Cheung were both honored in the category. Bautista, an ABMMA alumnus and former literary staffer, and Cheung, a graduating Architecture student and former Associate Editor for Digital Media, both previously served in BPC.
Meanwhile, under Category 27: Publications, Horizons: Remnants, the official art and design folio of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) for Academic Year 2024-2025, earned an Award of Merit. The award-winning folio was spearheaded by former Art and Design Editor Gilbert Escorial and current Layout Editor Hiro Odamaki, both hailing from the ABMMA program.
Horizons: Remnants further distinguished itself by winning the 2026 Sharon Berzok Student Award, the highest recognition conferred on student-produced winning entries.
The Gold Quill Awards are presented by IABC, the organization behind the Philippine Quill Awards. Prior to its global recognition, Benilde is the reigning School of the Year for three straight years now in the Student Quill Awards, with the majority of the College's winning entries submitted by organizations under the SPU.
Following the awards ceremony, SPU participated in the IABC World Conference 2026, the organization’s premier annual gathering for communication professionals. The three-day conference featured expert-led plenary and breakout sessions centered on the evolving role of communicators in a rapidly changing world.
Communications professionals from across the industry shared insights and best practices, as well as the enduring value of the human mind and touch in an era that is increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence. Among the featured speakers were Megan Noel, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Covista, Becca Chambers, Chief Marketing Officer at Scale Venture Partners, and Nadia Jamshidi, Chief Communications Officer at Honeyjar. They were also joined by communications and marketing executives Melissa Robinson and Mary Sedarat, along with Barby K. Siegel, Global CEO of Zeno Group.
