The Office of the President and Chancellor (OPC) officially announced today, November 18, the academic calendar shift of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) in response to the call of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for economic integration.
This is in recommendation of the College’s Academic Council, as approved by OPC and acknowledged by Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
To accommodate the shift, a 14-week “Transition Term” from May 11 to August 17, 2015 will replace the current school year’s summer term as proposed by the Office of the Registrar. In this Transition Term, students are allowed to take a full term’s unit load.
If a student enrolls in the Transition Term, the term break will last approximately for two weeks, from April 28 to May 10. There will be no freshmen admissions for the Transition Term.
The new calendar is comprised of three terms. The first term will start around the last week of August until the first week of December; second term on the first week of January 2016 until the second week of April; and, third term on the last week of April until the first week of August. After AY 2015-2016, a “Bridging Term”, the equivalent of a summer term, will begin every second to the last week of August.
