Aiming to “provide creative vision” to the Benildean community by actively participating in the design, selection, and implementation of various College-related activities, Vice Chancellor of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Advancement (OVCA) Robin Serrano has recently announced via Benilde Mail the creation of its newest center: the Center for Campus Art (CCA).

According to Serrano in an email sent last May 11, the CCA “takes charge of the creative direction of Benilde through the design, curation, administration and management of spaces and activities of the College that interface with the public.”

Moreover, the CCA also aims to “enhance” the public areas of the three campuses of the College by curating productions that use these areas. This involves the selection, management, and approval of projects that the center deems appropriate for the College.

The OVCA has appointed Architect Gerry Torres as the Campus Art Director, who will be initially assisted by King Etcobañez as the CCA’s Campus Art Officer.

“Dear Benildean Community,

I am pleased to announce the creation of the Center for Campus Art under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Advancement.

The Center for Campus Art takes charge of the creative direction of Benilde through the design, curation, administration,​ and management of spaces and activities of the College that interface with the public. It provides creative vision and guidance to our Schools and other members of the Benildean Community in the design, selection and implementation of specific projects, productions, outreach programs, performances, exhibit shows, symposia, partnerships​,​ and tours. The Center enhances the public areas of the three campuses of Benilde through thoughtful curation of these spaces by selecting, managing and approving appropriate shows and exhibits, art and design artefacts, exhibit and installation systems, lighting, video, sound and other media systems, graphics and curatorial text, among others.

I would like to also announce the appointment of Architect Gerry Torres as Campus Art Director. He will be initially assisted by King Etcobañez as Campus Art Officer.
