Team Elite once again proved themselves as they danced their hearts out during this year’s Remix competition which was held at Yuchengco Hall at De La Salle University last November 6, and ended up winning first place in both Org-Based and Open Categories, making it another big win for them.

Celebrating their 10th year, La Salle Dance Company (LSDC) held their annual dance competition entitled Remiks ’15. Hosts Paolo Deluria and Sofia Gatchalian welcomed Backstage Crew, the first dance crew to perform under the Org-based Category, followed by Elementrix, Jag Royalty, Genesis, Shift Crew, Brain Drain, and Rouge.

Team Elite 2.0 were finally up on stage next, blowing away the audience with their lively and energetic piece, to be followed by #BMDC, STC, and lastly JCrew.

For the Open Category, only two teams competed against each other—Team Elite, who was also defending their championship, performed first and then followed by Skittlez.

As for the results, Brain Drain won People’s Choice Award. Meanwhile, in the Org-based Category, Brain Drain won second runner up, #BMDC for first runner up, and Team Elite 2.0 bagging first place again.
And top the night off, Team Elite once again also bagged the championship in the Open Category division, ultimately making Remiks ‘15 a 3-peat win.

For six years, Team Elite has kept their spot in past Remix competitions. In 2013, they finally made history and bagged both championships in the All Star and Varsity Divisions.

“Remiks ‘15 was a game changer for our part as we were trying to figure out how to beat last year’s piece with the blindfold, eye contacts and masks,” said Aennon Tabungar, one of the leaders of Team Elite. “When we were brainstorming around training, one question popped out in our coach Rocky’s mind. How can you be proud of your own culture when you don’t even see it anymore?”
The team then came up with composing an original and thought out spoken word poetry, while their coach made the choreographies to “bring the message to life”.
“As for our batch, Remix has been a dream for each of us. For people with different walks of life, gathered and united through dance, through Him. We were so thankful that this Team was made and with Remix, it made us who we are now, a solid family like no other. Everything we put up and give for in this journey was worth it in any way,” continued Tabungar.
As for Team Elite captain Carlos Serrano, he expressed feeling great after the competition. “Parang feeling mo grumaduate ka. Lahat ng hard work [niyo] ng team [niyo], blood, sweat, and tears, sobrang worth it in the end. And hindi lang kasi nanalo kaya ako masaya, kundi dahil narinig ko mismo sa mga newbies na nag enjoy and natuwa sila mag-perform sa stage. Yun ang gusto ko mapahiwatig sa team. To inspire everyone in the group, to inspire everyone who is watching, and to dance for God.”
