Lady Blazers clobber Cardinals, maintain top spot


The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Lady Blazers clobbered the Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT) Lady Cardinals in four sets, in the 92nd Season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Volleyball tournament.

The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Lady Blazers clobbered the Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT) Lady Cardinals in four sets, in the 92nd Season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Volleyball tournament yesterday, November 23, at The Arena, San Juan.

The Taft-based squad started the game hot from the field, going up as much as 15 in the early minutes. Team captain Janette Panaga led the way for the girls, scoring 13 attack points, two blocks and added three service aces for the game. The lady Blazers easily closed the first set with a (25-10) victory over the Cardinals.

The momentum of the defending champions continued on the second set where they pulled away with a (25-19) victory, thanks to their aggressive offense on the court. Although losing the third set in a tight (21-25) match, the Lady Blazers still managed to take over the Lady Cardinals in the fourth set with a (25-21) victory, remaining undefeated in this season’s Volleyball tournament.

Meanwhile, the Men’s team are also tied for the best record in the league (2-1) after sweeping the Cardinals (25-19, 25-22, 25-22) in their match yesterday. Powerhouse Johnvic De Guzman once again led the team with 20 points for the game.

Catch both the Men’s and Women’s teams as they aim to stay on top of the NCAA standings. Both teams will go up against the Jose Rizal University Bombers on Tuesday, November 29, at The Arena, San Juan.
