More than just a celebration of the millennial voice and potential, SCOUT x CSB last May 17 also served as an invitation for students to share their common interests in art and music, as well as feature some of the College’s young talent.
This year’s hangout featured Benildeans such as up-and-coming fashion duo Abraham Guardian and Mamuro Oki (also known as HA-MU) of AB-Fashion Design and Merchandising; internationally-renowned photographer Aly Mananquil; and multi-featured local designer-model Selina Bhang of AB-Multimedia Arts (MMA).
In addition to showcasing a few of the College’s stellar talents and assets, the tour was also a gathering for music, art, and even inspirational talks as well.
A gathering for the arts
The event’s musical performance roster was composed of a quintet of Benilde’s talented homegrown musicians, namely: Space Onigiri, Northern Man, and JLevel of Primo Musico, solo artist Youngsleepyboi (stage name of Moe Cabral), and Logiclub’s resident songbird, B.P Valenzuela.
However, the musical acts weren’t the only reason behind the overall creative, inspiring, and enjoyable atmosphere- an art exhibit was also set up in the area, showcasing even more of the talent that Benilde housed, with dozens of works of art.
Afterwards, a set of talks was given by VGrafiks’ Russ Vergara and illustrator Dani Chuatico on their modest beginnings and future plans.
Also included in the event were several “giant games (where normal games such as Jenga and Twister were transformed into giant versions),” a photobooth, and a separate booth for Scout’s merchandise, which was produced in collaboration with Proudrace, one of the shining stars in the local fashion scene.
Benilde’s Scout Campus Tour stop was a collaboration between Scout and Media Max, the College’s premier organization for MMA students.
After seeing the publication as one that was “well-known, successful, and appealed to our generation,” Media Max president Linus Rinoza presented the youth publication as an opportunity to inspire Benildeans.
Before Benilde, Scout has already done campus tours in De La Salle University, University of the Philippines-Diliman, University of Santo Tomas, and Ateneo De Manila University.
Scout is a print and online publication produced by the youth which focuses on the youth culture. The free publication tackles trending issues and various matters of interests for young people.
