COMELEC presents student government candidates


The Benilde Commission on Elections (COMELEC) introduced the official candidates for Central Student Government (CSG) and School Student Government (SSG) in the general elections opening ceremony yesterday, July 3.

The Benilde Commission on Elections (COMELEC) introduced the official candidates for Central Student Government (CSG) and School Student Government (SSG) in the general elections opening ceremony yesterday, July 3, at the Plaza Villarosa, Taft Campus.

Qualified candidates from the School of Design and Arts, School of Diplomacy and Governance, and School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management running for SSG president, along with 115 and 116 representatives, were introduced to the Benildean community with their respective political party chants.

Some of the candidates for CSG executive board running for Vice President (VP) for operations, VP for academics, VP for internal affairs, VP for external affairs and President shared the same sentiments about giving priorities to student’s rights through different approaches for further reforms and transformation.

Mike Allen Aguinaldo, running as CSG president under 1Sentro, reminded everyone how a true student leader is not concerned about his or her reputation but rather on the service rendered to the whole Benildean community.

Ang mga sama-samang tinig, bumubulong at sumasatsat ay magkakaroon ng boses, kaya hayaan niyo namang ipaglaban ko ang karapatan niyo bilang Benildyano,” Aguinaldo said.

Meanwhile, Hansel Del Rosario, Sinag Benildyano’s presidential bet, vowed he will bring influence and motivation towards the change in the College.

“I want to prove that it is possible for Benilde to have a solid representation, not in the opposition, but within the government,” Del Rosario said.

The Comelec has scheduled two dates for the miting de avance; one for tomorrow, July 5, and one on July 10, Monday.

Campaign period started last July 3 and will end on July 15, while the voting period is scheduled from July 17 to 21.

Winning candidates will be announced on July 24.
