Designed to instill certain skills, knowledge, and attitude to future student leaders based on the Benildean expressions, the Department of Student Life (DSL) spearheaded Infuse 2019, a program for Benildean scholars, last July 6 at the Taft Campus.
In an interview with The Benildean, Ms. Norie Ador Dionisio, DSL Dean, explained how the program was later on transferred from the Student Grants Office (SGO) to DSL in 2018.
“It means infusing them (Benildean scholars) with the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitude—the necessary characteristics that we (Benildean community) expect from Benildean scholars,” Ms. Ador Dionisio said, emphasizing that Infuse is a rebranding of the former Scholars Fair which began in 2010 under SGO.
This year, DSL highlighted “One Benildean Experience,” focusing on the Benildean Expressions of the Lasallian Core Values which make Benildeans extraordinary Lasallians, compared to last year’s three-day program wherein they conducted talks related to leadership, career development on financial literacy, and the concept of grit.
“We wanted this activity to be a platform for scholars to have an in-depth understanding and appreciation of the Benildean Expressions,” the DSL Dean added.
The event also served as an opportunity for different types of scholars—from academic scholarships, financial assistance, merit/talent grants, government-endorsed scholarship/grant, and institutional scholarships—to interact with one another. These scholarships, according to the Benilde Undergraduate Student Handbook are either merited or can be applied for depending on its kind.
According to Ms. Ador Dionisio, the initial target of the event was to have at least 20 percent of the Benildean scholars population. Roughly 250 student scholars registered for the event.
