From October 25 to 27, different teams competed from countries such as South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, and Japan; the Philippines’ representative—Saint Benilde Romançon Dance Company (SBRDC), or referred to as Romançon dance crew, won the championship title over the three-day event.
In an interview with The Benildean, assistant company manager Jose Inigo Villegas said, “We are very humbled with our championship. But, this is just the beginning of our greatness and we plan on bagging more golds for the coming years.”
Showcasing a rendition with 90s theme, the international competition was an opportunity for Benilde’s dance troupe to have an inclusive uniform wardrobe enhancing a classical color scheme suited for their chosen motif.
Through the portrayal of lively and exuberating style of interpretation movements, SBRDC’s company manager Carlos Miguel Lucas expressed “It was a blessing really,” explaining the remarkable experience of representing the Benildean community and the country.
“The championship was a result of the team’s hard work and passion for dance! We are so humbled to be able to showcase our skills and performance to the world and it was a great feeling for all of us for getting the win,” Lucas said.
From a three-month preparation to garnering Filipino pride and honor in the competition, SBRDC delivered an outstanding performance that lasted for 2 minutes, and 30 seconds.
