The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Lady Blazers’ Gayle Pascual and Mycah Go put up a gallant stand after they forced the game to a dramatic fifth set win in NCAA Season 95 against Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Lady Pirates, 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-18, 15-7, yesterday, Jan. 17, at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Pascual finished the game garnering 18 points built on her 15 attacks while Go showcased her all-around expertise contributing 17 markers laced with 17 excellent receptions and six digs.

In the fourth set, the Lady Blazers successfully snatched a 23-18 lead after a 1-2 set deficit with the defense anchored by Michelle Gamit and Chelsea Umali. With Umali’s contribution with a running attack and Go’s splashing ace, the set ended in favor of the Taft squad, 25-18.

The burning heat of the match filled the arena as the game locked at 3-all in the dramatic fifth set but the Lady Blazers did not let the Intramuros squad surpass them as Pascual and Go strived for a 6-0 blast to take a 9-3 gap. Lady Pirates attempted to stop the bleeding as Ciarnelle Wanta pumped their score back to life but the continuous attacks of the ladies in green and white dominated the last set, 15-7.

By the end of the match, Jade Gentapa added 15 markers, while Klarisa Abriam scored seven points and continued to play up to the third set due to an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, Cloanne Mondonedo and Jewel Lai contributed their fair share of playmaking duties as they each scored three points for Lady Blazers while defensive specialist Arianne Daguil secured the floor defense with a 12-dig, 12-reception output.

The DLS-CSB Lady Blazers will be seen in action again on Monday, Jan. 20, against Colegio San Juan de Letran (CSJL) Lady Knights at the same venue.
