The Department of Student Life (DSL), in collaboration with the Office of Student Residence and Infrastructure Construction and Management Office (ICMO), spearheaded a partial stress test to measure the functionality of the facilities and highlights of the five-story Benilde Sports and Dormitory Complex from January 23 to 24, 2020.

Selected associates and members of the Benildean community volunteered to stay within the building for a night to simulate the possible experience of the students, particularly scholars, who will be lodging in by February. Room facilities and common areas are evaluated in terms of surveying satisfaction levels and additional comments for improvement.
DSL Associate Dean Levi Albania welcomed and expressed his gratitude to the volunteers in his opening remarks.
“We are holding this activity to stimulate dorm experience,” Albania said in his remarks.
Volunteers were toured around the building and introduced to facilities including the following:

The second and third floors also consist of male dormitories while the fourth and fifth floors are solely for the female dormitories. The basketball court had dividers for other sports such as volleyball and badminton where nets will be arranged in accordance with the schedule. The maple flooring has to be redone due to non-electrical flooding by the chilling room last December 25, 2019. They are currently rushing to fix it by their target date by doubling manpower.
According to the Office of Student Residence Head Mr. Paulino Villanueva, DSL is currently tallying the assessment forms and the results will be out by next week. This will determine if there are any additional features to be improved.
The Sports and Dormitory Complex’s target completion is by mid-March. Nonetheless, the dormitory residence is set to be complete on Feb. 8, 2020. Student occupancy will be allowed by Feb. 13 to 15.
Villanueva said there will be a small blessing on Feb. 24 to “bless the people who will be residing the dorm” rather than the structure itself.
An official community-wide blessing of the whole building is aimed by April where sponsors, donors, and important personalities will be invited.
