Despite the absence of veterans playmaker Jewel Lai and open hitter Klarisa Abriam during the first and second set, the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Lady Blazers still overpowered the Jose Rizal University (JRU) Lady Bombers, 25-22, 25-13, 25-20, to claim the first semis seat in #NCAASeason95 earlier today, Feb. 7, at the FilOil Flying V Centre, San Juan.
With a total of 16 points combined, Lady Blazers Gayle Pascual and Mycah Go stabled Lady Blazers’ offense in the first and second sets together alongside setter Cloanne Mondonedo who also registered four points and eight excellent sets.
Despite committing 25 errors in the match, the Taft squad stayed afloat with spikers Michelle Gamit and Jade Gentapa leading the team in blocks and service aces.
With Lady Blazers libero Arianne Daguil, Christine Lim, Gamit, Go, Mondonedo, and Lai on deck, the team secured the match with 52 excellent digs, 12 excellent sets and 10 service aces.
The Lady Blazers will face Mapua University (MU) Lady Cardinals to clinch a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals on Feb. 14 at the same venue.
