Samsung Electronics introduced a new lineup of products for “a better normal for all” at the 51st edition of Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in a live-streamed virtual press conference last Jan. 11.
President and Head of Samsung Research Sebastian Seung claimed their company will stay committed to making people’s lives better yet effortless through Artificial Intelligence (AI) as their core to power up their greatest innovations.
The pandemic brought people to spend more time at home last year which urged Samsung to create and invest in advancements that can meet ends with rapidly changing lifestyles. The innovations introduced were the following:
Samsung Bespoke 4-Door Flex
The new model of Bespoke refrigerator allows users to customize it for both form and function such as changing the panel colors. It also incorporates a quick access for the water dispenser and automatically fills up water in a pitcher inside the new Beverage Center. As announced, the "Samsung Bespoke 4-Door Flex" will be released in America during the spring season.
110-inch MIRO LED
Samsung’s new TV lineup features narrower edges to fit seamlessly into spaces along with a self-lit organic LED for greater picture quality. Moreover, users can split the screen up to four ways to stream multiple shows and tasks simultaneously with the new “4Vue,” a quad view mode with 160 free channels available through Samsung TV Plus. The 110-inch MICRO LED will be available globally this coming March.
SmartThings Cooking
With a personalized service, "SmartThings Cooking" can respond and adapt to the user's culinary needs. It can provide meal plans with its AI technology as well as connect to nearby grocery stores to shop recipes listed from the refrigerator or mobile phone and even deliver it right at their doorsteps. Users can also learn from some cooking classes flashed from the refrigerator panel, smart TVs, or smartphones.
Samsung Health Smart Trainer
To make home exercises easier, "Samsung Health Smart Trainer" will be available on 2021 TVs. This service promotes the new Smart Trainer to guide users on their workout progress with an interactive experience. Moreover, it can analyze a user's posture, estimate burned calories, assist users with exercise reps and provide post workout feedback with Samsung TVs built-in sensors.
JetBot 90 AI+
Samsung leads the industry of incorporating AI to their new-generation innovation including their new vacuum cleaner with LiDAR and 3D sensors for object recognition avoiding any obstacle for intelligent cleaning. Being equipped with a camera, it can help monitor a user's home with AI via the SmartThings app.
Samsung Bot Care and Samsung Bot Handy
Bringing users to a next-level AI, Samsung introduced a new lineup of Bot Retail. The "Samsung Bot Care" acts as an assistant and companion which recognizes user’s behavior while the "Samsung Bot Handy" uses AI to recognize objects and help users as an extra hand for picking up various items.
Accessible and inclusive innovation
As a leading company for electronics, Samsung pursues development of a wider variety of AI applications to promote inclusivity. With the Gait Enhancing & Motivating System (GEMS) introduced during CES 2020, Samsung is continuously developing robotics to supplement everyone’s needs towards a better future. GEMS, a wearable robotics, allows to assist people who have problems in walking, running or standing up.
Being committed to address inequalities, Samsung developed the "Sign Language Zoom" feature on their 2021 QLED TVs to guarantee everyone’s entertainment. Furthermore, the company now allows users to adjust color settings on their TVs to cater people who have color vision deficiency (CVD) through SeeColors application.
Onward to a sustainable future
Sandeep Rana, Environmental Sustainability Specialist for Samsung Electronics, took the stage discussing the company’s "Galaxy Upcycling Program," an initiative to educate people on ways to repurpose their Galaxy devices at home. They announced that they will have a new eco packaging that can be reconstructed in many ways. The company will also be developing a Solar Cell Remote Control to reduce battery waste as it can be charged from solar energy.
