Join in as De La Salle University (DLSU) Chorale binds people together through music while culminating a meaningful academic year with “Why We Sing: A Choral Festival”―chiming sundry harmonies of different local and international choral groups from May 7 to 9.
Various local and international choirs will pair their soothing voices with their specialized repertoire, whilst showcasing their love for music and reasons as to “why they sing.”
Moreover, a portion of the proceeds will be given to DLSU Chorale’s beneficiary, Artists' Welfare Project Inc. (AWPI), an organization that supports Filipino artists.
Crafting an elevating harmony
Setting aside their penchant for a solitary concert, DLSU Chorale will stage their very first choral festival online. In an interview with The Benildean, the choral group revealed that holding a choral festival has always been part of their plan. Thus, despite the stress and upheavals of the pandemic, they have sought to bring out music’s untapped potential for uniting through this event.
The group’s main objective is to break barriers and unite people through music and songs. They believe that “songs can bring hope to people's lives amidst these dark times” and that “the festival also serves as a reminder to us that music can and will continue to impact lives.”
In comparison to their preceding performances, the choral group drew parallels between the live and virtual staging. They affirmed that “you [the audience] can expect many amazing performances from various choirs all around the Philippines, Singapore, and Indonesia.”
Premiering on a virtual stage, the choral festival will take a notably different path. “The festival is different because it encompasses an entire weekend, and we have invited 34 choirs to participate. Expect a lot of surprises, and the show will definitely leave you with positively expectant hearts and minds,” the choral group underscored.
