Established in 2018, “Get Wired! Wellness From Home” is a continuation of SDA Arts and Culture Cluster’s initiative and response to the growing mental wellness advocacy and the approved Mental Health Law in the Philippines. In collaboration with Benilde’s Central Student Government (CSG), the event aims to explore the “new creative modalities for wellness” through workshop collaboration and a round table discussion this coming June 14 to 17.
Not your typical online workshop
While other workshops only present tips on how to improve and address problems concerning mental health, the event will feature an interactive discussion about lockdown trends and will incorporate coffee and music as a channel to manage stress and other mental health problems.
For the duration of the four-day event, Benilde’s well-being counselors Mr. Manuel Correa, RGC (Registered Guidance Counselor), Ms. Melanie Lourdes Dionisio, RGC, RPsy (Registered Guidance Counselor and Registered Psychologist), and Kaagapay Student Volunteers (KVG) Mr. Anton Arevalo and Ms. Audrey Rosites will be featured as speakers for the roundtable discussion during the first day. Benilde Wellness Center’s (BWC) counselors will tackle how various trends like making Dalgona coffee and ube pandesal affect one’s mental health. On the other hand, the KVG representatives will share their experiences as students during this pandemic.
On the second day, Lyceum of the Philippines professor Ms. Tonette Asprer, who is also a certified yoga and meditation teacher, will be presenting mindfulness, oracle reading, meditation, reiki and sound healing activities.
The third day will feature Ms. Zyra Mae V. Sicat, MOH, PTRP, a College of Rehabilitation Sciences instructor from the University of Santo Tomas, as she shares beneficial exercises for people who are studying and working at home.
Lastly, De La Salle University’s (DLSU) literature professor Ms. Sylvelyn Jo Almanzor and Benilde alumnus Mr. Karl Kristof Victor will share their personal narratives about how coffee helps them relieve stress.
