Benilde Lady Blazers Anne Christine Obenza and Ashley Judd Felipe bagged gold and silver finishes in the Women’s Middleweight Division of the Speed Kicking event earlier today, July 5, on GMA’s GTV.
From consistent fast kicks and punches, Lady Blazer Anne Christine Obenza claimed the top spot with her 6.583 finish. In Obenza’s post-event interview with sports commentator Martin Javier and 2017 Miss Multinational Sophia Senoron, she mentioned how difficult the adjustment was in the speed kicking event, which was held the first time in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 96.
“[Nakakapanibago] po ‘yung pag-process nung speed kicking, pero ginawa ko naman ‘yung best ko...Tiwala lang sa sarili,” she expressed.
Another strong performance from Lady Blazer Ashley Judd Felipe secured second place, collecting 6.175 points.
Meanwhile, Arellano University’s (AU) Lady Chief Kezia Eustaquio claimed bronze with her 6.142 finish.
In fourth place is San Beda University’s (SBU) Lady Red Jin Rianne Chardae Salise with 5.992 points while Rosin Nicole Telada of San Sebastian College-Recoletos finished last with 5.833 points.
