De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde’s (DLS-CSB) Adrian Othniel Yulo failed to earn a finals spot in the NCAA 96 online chess tournament earlier today, July 26.
After beating fellow Benildean woodpusher John Michael Magpily in the quarter-finals last July 23, Yulo faced Arellano University’s Carl Jaedrianne Ancheta. Despite a strong start, the Benildean semi-finalist resigned with 3:09 left, with Ancheta taking the finals spot in the online chess tournament.
Yulo will still compete in the battle for bronze against the loser of the semifinals match up between University of Perpetual Help System DALTA’s Carl Zirex Sato and Lyceum of the Philippines University’s Neymark Digno tomorrow, July 27.
The battle for third place will take place on Wednesday, July 28, at 3:00 p.m. via GTV.
