The Benildean Press Corps (BPC), the official student-journalists’ organization of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, was awarded a special citation for its magazine, “The Benildean: Confined” at the 43rd Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) on Dec. 26.
The magazine was one of the six finalists for the Best Student Organ-College category of the CMMA.
Meanwhile, BPC was also a finalist for the Best Short Film category under the student division with three entries among seven finalists. The short films include “Malayo Ngunit Malaya,” “Mother’s Day 2021,” and “Semana Santa at Isang Taon nasa Pandemya.” The category winner was awarded to Malayan Colleges Laguna for its film "Gunita."
The last time BPC won an award in the CMMA was in 2018, when the organization was awarded the Best Literary Folio for Shades of Gray: Convalescence. Since then, BPC has been a consistent finalist in the said awards.
The 43rd CMMA marks the second year where the awarding ceremony was done virtually.
With the theme “Gifted to Give,” a total of 366 entries vied to win in their respective categories.
CMMA is an annual awarding ceremony for student and mass media platforms to showcase their best work that cater to the general public. It was established in 1978 by Archbishop of Manila Jaime L. Cardinal Sin to “honor those who serve God by means of the mass media.”
