BPC sweeps 2nd Assumption Campus Press Awards with 10 wins


Benildean student-journalists showcased excellence yet again after winning 10 awards out of 11 categories at the 2nd Assumption Outstanding Campus Press Awards.

The Benildean Press Corps (BPC), the official student-journalists’ organization of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), bagged 10 wins at the 2nd Assumption Outstanding Campus Press Awards (AOCPA), including Most Outstanding Campus Paper.

Announced on Facebook Livestream on Jan. 12, AOCPA presented 11 categories in total, three of which were considered major categories, namely the Most Outstanding Campus Paper, Most Outstanding Campus Journalist, and Most Outstanding Campus Publication.

Most Outstanding Campus Paper, 1st Place - The Benildean

Most Outstanding Campus Journalist, 3rd Place - Beatrice Quirante

Most Outstanding Features Writer, 3rd Place - “From Classroom to Zoom: A Teacher’s Plight with Online Classes” by Kate Loreno and Kristien Ronquillo

Most Outstanding Sports Writer, 1st Place - “The New Sports Experience: A Spectator-less era” by Anna Laganzon

Most Outstanding Opinion Writer, 5th Place - “It’s Not Safe Where I’m From” by Hannah Dayan

Most Outstanding Editorial Writer, 5th Place - “#OustDuterte: Karahasan at Kaguluhan sa Kalagitnaan ng COVID19” by Chenelle Navidad

Most Outstanding Editorial Cartoonist, 4th Place - Cyryna Molit

Most Outstanding Photojournalist, 2nd Place - Anne Valmeo

The 2020 AOCPA only awarded the best student-journalists and publications in Pampanga and in its second year, it has expanded to include universities across Luzon. 

The award ceremony recognized 13 participating publications from universities all over Luzon, including DLS-CSB’s BPC and De La Salle University’s (DLSU) Ang Pahayagang Plaridel.

The Assumption Outstanding Campus Press Awards is an annual event spearheaded by Regina, the official student publication of the University of Assumption, to recognize exceptional journalistic talent and skills exhibited by campus journalists and student publications in Luzon.
