Even in the absence of conventional platforms, Benildean student leaders, journalists, artists, volunteers, and athletes proved to be catalysts of exceptional service and remarkable leadership embodying the 29th Gawad Benildyano’s theme of “Gifted to Give: A Celebration of the Gift of Leadership and Service.”
Now on its 29th year, the Center for Student Life (CSL) commenced its annual Gawad Benildyano via Facebook Live today, Jan. 28. Despite being bounded by technology for the second time, the annual event was able to exhibit the same ambience as before.
“Your hopes and activities may not be the one you envisioned or you hoped they are to be; collaboration with other organizations may not be as enjoyable as you have wanted; [but] we are celebrating your triumphs and successes during this year Gawad Benildyano,” Ms. Maria Veronica Templo-Perez, the newly minted Vice President of Lasallian Mission and Student Life, expressed in her opening remarks.
Coro San Benildo performed an opening number that embodied a message of what servant leadership looks like–selfless, dedicated, and resilient. The awarding ceremony proceeded consequently with the help of other student artists and associates such as Julia Enriquez from the Culture and Arts Unit and Manolet Garcia from the School of Design and Arts Architecture Program who hosted the event.
