De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Senior High School (SHS) student Hannah Sanchez made waves at the 1st Southeast Asian Open Water Swimming Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Feb. 2 to 4 by winning bronze in the Women's 10km (18 to 19 year-old category).

The Grade 12 General Academic Strand (GAS) student proved she was a force to be reckoned with as she demonstrated her exceptional swimming abilities and brought home a well-deserved medal, further solidifying the Philippines' growing presence in the world of open water swimming.

Over 400 elite and amateur swimmers from the Southeast Asian region, namely Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines, competed at the Putrajaya Lake.

Unlike the controlled environment of a swimming pool, open water swimming takes place in a variety of natural bodies of water, including lakes, rivers, lochs, seas, and reservoirs.
