The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) women's beach volleyball team failed to secure a win, while the men’s beach volleyball team strengthened their position for a spot in the final four after adding two more wins to their record in the third day of the NCAA Season 99 Beach Volleyball tournament on Jan. 26 at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone Sports Complex.

The opening match for both teams was against the Colegio de San Juan de Letran (CSJL) Beach Volleyball Team. The duo of Harold Marasigan and Leonard Jaboli Marasigan continued to pave the way for the Benilde Blazers, after putting away the Knights in just two sets with a 2-0 sweep, claiming their first win of the day.

On the other hand, the Lady Blazers were given a tough matchup to begin the day, as they were set to face the defending women’s beach volleyball champions—the Letran Lady Knights. The Taft squad continued the tournament with the same lineup, headed by the duo of Angelika Mondejar and Doreen Baguio. The ladies in green and white trailed in both sets, and despite valiant efforts to keep things close, the Lady Knights proved to be a cut above the rest, sweeping the Taft squad, 0-2.

The afternoon matches for both Taft squads were against the Jose Rizal University (JRU) Beach Volleyball Team. The Benilde Blazers carried over the momentum from their morning match to kick off their afternoon, with the duo of Marasigan and Jaboli making sure to end the day on a high note by dominating and sweeping the Heavy Bombers, 2-0.

Failing to secure a win in the previous day, the Lady Blazers were desperate and determined to nab a win in their final match of the day, against the Lady Bombers. The Taft squad went on a great opening stretch to begin the match, leading by six midway through the set, 12-6. Although, the Lady Bombers will slowly climb their way back, tying things up at 17 points a piece. Despite the comeback, the Lady Blazers remained poised and made sure to secure the first set, 21-19. In the succeeding sets, Lady Bombers would capitalize on a depleted Taft squad. The Lady Bombers would dominate the ladies in green and white in the second set, 13-21, to force a deciding set. In the final set, both teams went on a back-and-forth affair, although the Lady Bombers edged out the duo of Baguio and Mondejar, handing the Lady Blazers their sixth loss of the tournament.

The Benilde Blazers continue to tally wins, improving their win-loss record to 5-2, to further boost their final four bid. On the other hand, the Lady Blazers continue to pile up losses, now standing at 1-6.
