The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Lawn Tennis teams initiated a strong tournament opener as they routed their respective foes with significant margins, today,  Mar. 15, at the Philippine Columbian Association Sports Club in Paco, Manila. 

The Benilde Blazing Netters took down the Mapua University (MU) Lawn Tennis Team for the season-opening game. A convincing start by Blazing Netter, Carl Ubalde, led the strong rally of the Taft squad. Despite falling short in the first set, Ubalde made sure to stride big wins in the following sets, taking the first win of the singles match, 2-1. 

Gian Macaraeg and Francis Lera headlined the doubles match as they easily routed their Mapuan counterparts, 2-0. Reyniel Marcellana topped things in the second singles match as he dominated the singles category with a clean 2-0 sweep. The Benilde Blazing Netters defeated the Mapua University in all categories with a sweep, 3-0.

Meanwhile, the Benilde Lady Netters also showed a commanding performance in the women’s division of the tournament as they took a win against the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD) Lawn Tennis Team. A promising start was displayed by Benilde Lady Netters’ Valerie Desoyo, as she led the team to a sweep win for the first singles match, 2-0. Kiana De Asis and Dorelle Laguda replicated the sweep win in the doubles category, 2-0. Gabrielle Zoleta made sure to save the best for last as she completely dominated the last singles match with a clean 2-0 sweep of his own. The Benilde Lady Netters defeated the Lady Altas in the series with a 3-0 sweep.

The Benilde Blazing Netters are set to face their rivals, the San Beda University (SBU) Red Netters next, while the Lady Netters are set to face the Mapua University Lawn Tennis Team on Saturday, Mar. 16.
