The NCAA opening ceremony today, Sept. 7, held at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Pasay City, did not only officially mark the beginning of a new season, but it also showcased the rich and deep 100-year history of the league.

The opening ceremony kicked off with an exciting procession showcasing the flags of the 10 member schools. It was followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem led by the Lyceum of the Philippines (LPU) University Chorale. Then, SB19 member, Justin De Dios, stunned and charmed the crowd with a performance of his hit songs.

Throughout the program, historical icons from politicians to athletes from the NCAA were recognized for bringing honor to the league and their respective schools. Moreover, 10 notable players from each school, including former Blazing Paddler Ryan Jacolo, were awarded with a plaque to officially recognize their accomplishments. The NCAA board officials, basketball team captains, and courtside reporters for Season 100 were officially introduced as well.

To formally kick off the season, the LPU Pep Squad performed an electric dance routine to start Season 100 with a bang. P-pop’s Female Alphas, G22, ended the opening ceremony by debuting the official theme song for NCAA 100, entitled “Own the Future.”

Catch the first game of the Benilde Blazers against the Mapua University Cardinals at 5 p.m. at the MOA Arena.
