The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) Lady Blazers lost their footing against the Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws, 1-3, Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Malate, Manila.

In a challenging first set, the Lady Blazers struggled to establish a formidable defense which allowed the Lady Tamaraws to capitalize and exploit their lapses. At the helm of the Morayta Squad were Clarisse Loresco and Chenie Tagaod, leaving the Lady Blazers with 12-21, a 9-point deficit. The ladies from Morayta took control and claimed the set in their favor, 17-25.

The second set saw a bounce back from the Lady Blazers as they did not take the beating of the first set lightly. Rhea Densing led the counteroffensive of the Taft Squad as she hammered down spike after spike across the net. Jazlyn Ellarina and Kyle Pendon of the Lady Tamaraws attempted to snatch the set in their favor. However, Wielyn Estoque nailed the final attack in the coffin to claim the second set, 25-21.

The first half of the third set witnessed a seesaw battle as both teams attempted to capitalize on each other’s weaknesses on the hard court. Eventually, the Lady Tamaraws, led by Loresco, commanded the game, leaving the Lady Blazers unable to execute any cohesive plans to turn the tide in their favor, 16-25.

Zamantha Nolasco and Mycah Go tried to resuscitate the Lady Blazers’ game plan as the match began to slip away from their favor. Mary Grace Borromeo stood up to the challenge, attempting to undo the errors of the ladies from Taft. Unfortunately, her aggressive attempts in crunch time caused the ball to miss the end line, handing the Lady Tamaraws a crucial point to end the match, 19-25.

The Lady Blazers will try to bounce back on the hardcourt against the Adamson University Lady Falcons on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 6:00 pm at the same venue.
