Blast off to vibrant tunes and local stars with UNITE 2023: Festival Day

Celebrate the face-to-face return of Benilde’s most festive solidarity event! #UNITE2023

By Renee Aguila | Thursday, 11 May 2023

After two years of being held online, UNITE, Benilde’s annual solidarity night, makes a comeback for a face-to-face production as UNITE 2023: Festival Day. Organized by Benilde’s Student Trainers (STRAINS), the event will bring both Benildean and non-Benildean talents to the stage for the Benildean community to rave with on May 12.

For the past two UNITE segments, the production was held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Performances were pre-recorded and streamed online on STRAINS’ Facebook page for the entire Benildean community to watch. However, with the current status of the country, having lesser restrictions, and most Filipinos being vaccinated, UNITE is finally returning for a face-to-face set-up for all Benildeans to rock out to and have fun.

UNITE’s comeback is a product of two events: the Battle of the Bands that happened on March 31 and the awaited main event, UNITE: Festival Day tomorrow. This year’s leg of the event is themed “Rocketman,” coming to the Benildean community with a blast from the stars! From owning the dance floor to feeling like a rock star, Benildeans are in for an out-of-this-world experience for this memorable night in store for them.

Some of the main highlights at UNITE 2023 include artists and bands such as Ena Mori, Of Mercury, One Click Straight, Joao, and Why July? Drag performers Poblaxion and Gandares will also be hitting the stage for UNITE’s first-ever drag show at the event. Additionally, UNITE wouldn’t be as groovy as it is without the Saint Benilde Romançon Dance Company, DJ Yung Masa, and enthusiastic hosts Cia Eugenio and Justin Alviedo

But that’s not all that STRAINS has prepared for the community! The event will also open its doors for an Open Mic segment for UNITE 2023’s pre-show. Additionally, raffle prizes are to be given away if Benildeans sign up for pre-event registration which is sure to be as fun as the main shows of UNITE. Some prizes include free passes to Acad Arena’s Conquest Festival 2023—which are definitely worth keeping an eye out for.

You can rock out to UNITE 2023: Festival Day at the ARG Theater, 5th floor of the Mutien Building at Benilde’s Taft Campus on May 12, 2023 from 5:30 p.m to 9:00 p.m. The event will be open to all Benildeans, including Senior High School, College students, and Benildean alumni.
